Nelson N3 Inverter

 

 

Nelson have supplied the automotive industry for many years with reliable auto feed stud weld systems. Whether robot mounted or for hand production.

The Nelson N3 Inverter is the next generation system and is just as reliable and provides the increased productivity demanded by vehicle manufacturers worldwide.

The Nelson N3 has a digitally controlled inverter and process monitoring system. This allows for better control of the weld cycle. It is capable of supporting up to five stud or component feeders or one manual application.

Communication with a robot or production cell is via various industrial I/O systems. ie: Profibus, Devicenet etc. The unit also has Ethernet connectivity for process monitoring and remote parameter setting. Firmware can be updated by RS232 cable and a laptop.

The stud or component feeder is connected in series to the N3 by two CAN buses, one for control and one for process feedback. They can support either servo weld heads and handguns or solenoid type handguns.

The latest Nelson weld heads and handguns use a precision servo for accurate control of the entire weld cycle. The system also allows backward compatibility with older style guns.

Setting and configuration of the system is achieved by using a handheld HMI control panel with both dedicated function buttons and a clear menu style programming format. Configuration can also be completed by Ethernet connection from a remote computer terminal.
